ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (ECG)

An ECG provides information about the condition and functioning of your heart. During the examination, the electric currents of the heart itself are measured. It gives your doctor information about your heart rhythm and the oxygenation of the heart muscle.

Important

For the assessment of the ECG, it is important to know if you have any complaints and what medications you are using. The doctor’s assistant who makes the ECG, will ask you. If you are taking medications, bring them!

The examination

Before the examination, you will be asked to disrobe your upper body and take of any jewellery you are wearing. If you are wearing a panty, you will be asked to take that off as well. You can keep on your socks and shoes. Lying on the exam table, electrodes will be put on your chest, wrists and ankles. It is important that you try to relax during the making of the ECG and don´t not move or talk. It takes about 30 seconds. You won´t feel anything. After, the assistant will remove the electrodes and you can get dressed.

The results

The results of the research will be sent within 24 hours to the physician who requested the examination. Your doctor will give you more information.
