SLEEP APNEA REGISTRATION (POLYGRAPHY)
During a polygraphy test, they measure if you have an obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).

The Sleep-Apnea Syndrome is a common condition that often isn´t detected, we only know “the tip of the iceberg ´. Beside that it is annoying, it can also be very dangerous. It gives a greatly increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and stroke.
If you have the Sleep-Apnea Syndrome the chance of (traffic) accidents is much bigger and it can cause high blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmias. In addition to the symptoms of daytime sleepiness and general fatigue, many patients suffer from snoring, are overweight and/or have high blood pressure, however this is not always the case.
The test
The Syndrome is detected doing a sleep apnea test.
With a special recorder data are collected about your breathing, your heart rhythm, oxygen levels in the blood and snoring. This information is read into the computer and analyzed by the pulmonologist. Depending on the results, you will get advice about treatment. You have to take the recorder to your home to do the test.
